My clients used to rent their software. Now they own it.

The story

I started building on Glide in 2020. Six years, dozens of apps. It built my whole business, so I'm not going to sit here and trash it.

But at some point I noticed I kept saying no to people. A client wants their own checkout, no. Wants to get at their own data, no. Asks for something any developer would knock out before lunch, and I'm explaining why it can't be done. I was getting paid to tell people what was impossible. That's a strange job to have.

Then one client pulled up their bill. The platform was costing them more every month than the app was making them. I built that app. I built the thing that was eating them.

So we rebuilt it in Lovable. Hosting went to almost nothing. And here's the part that got me: the client owned it. The code, the database, their own Stripe account.

That's just how I work now. I build inside the client's Lovable workspace, not mine. I'm a member there, they're the owner. When we're done they walk away with all of it and never have to ask me for their own software back.

I thought that was a boring admin detail. It's the reason people say yes now.

I came at this from the business side. I've got an M.A. in Business Management, and most of my clients don't actually want an app. They want four hours of their week back, or to stop paying for three tools that half overlap. Lovable is the first thing that lets me say yes while we're still talking about it.
