The story

Our clients keep coming to us with the same kind of problem, and it's almost never the big one. It's a process running on paper or spreadsheets that everyone knows is leaking money, but nobody can say how much. They've lived with it for years, not because it's hard to fix, but because it never made it onto anyone's priority list.

For a firm with 240 engineers, those problems were the ones we could never quote properly. A small internal tool doesn't justify a development project — the client can't defend the budget, and we can't justify assigning a team. So the problem just stays. What we started seeing is that those "small" problems are usually where the real money goes. Nobody was going to fund a project to fix a paper sign-in sheet, which is exactly why it kept costing them for years.

So we stopped starting with scoping documents and started building instead. Polpusa runs employee buses across multiple routes and zones, bringing workers in and taking them home every day. Attendance was tracked on printed paper sheets: every worker writing their employee code, name, bus and time — twice a day, on every bus
