How Lovable turned my tech curiosity into a leap of faith jump into self-employment

The story

I have always been “tech curious,” and my family can testify that when I first discovered Lovable in 2025, I disappeared down a week-long rabbit hole. Being “tech curious” without the ability to code had also always felt like a massive missed opportunity, and many times I thought back to my mum pushing me towards studying Computer Science in the ’90s.

However, 2025–2026 was a turning point. Within months, I had built four websites for local businesses. With the commercial edge I gained from working at HubSpot for five years, I could now build like a developer while also optimising the customer journey and considering the brand and commercial goals behind each page.

Without any marketing or sales activity, demand in my county began to snowball, and by summer 2026, I found myself completing six website projects a month. This was the moment I decided to leave my five-year sales career at HubSpot and take the leap into self-employment.
